About This Track

Haim's debut single 'Forever' opens with a direct address to an absent lover, the three sisters cycling through verses that catalogue the wreckage of a relationship that has run its course. The song moves between accusation and exhaustion; they sing of time stolen, of attempts at reconciliation that have calcified into habit, of fatigue with the effort of keeping something alive that both parties can see is ending. The chorus arrives with a kind of resigned clarity. There is no anger here, only the knowledge that the relationship has reached its natural conclusion, and a readiness to accept it if that is what needs to happen. By the final stretch, the plea has thinned to a simple request: let go, move on, stop taking up space in memory. Written by the three band members with Ludwig Göransson on production, the track establishes their gift for turning relationship breakdown into something both immediate and reflective, personal without being self-pitying.
