About This Track

Harry Styles adopts the voice of a married man whose routine is punctuated by thoughts of an idealised woman who exists only in his head. The character drops his children at school, sends his assistant for coffee at half-past one, imagines sailing away without explanation. The refrain circles back to the same admission: she lives in daydreams, she's the first one he sees, and he doesn't know who or where she is.

The track appeared on 'Fine Line', recorded during sessions where Styles and his band experimented with hallucinogens in a Los Angeles studio. Guitarist Mitch Rowland laid down the central riff under the influence, and the song retains a hazy, drifting quality that suits its subject. The woman sleeps in the protagonist's bed while he plays pretend, a fantasy that brightens an otherwise humdrum existence.
