About This Track

'Days' by HMLTD is a 2023 indie rock track from the album 'The Worm'. The lyrics dwell on a stagnated routine, with the narrator describing long stretches of confinement and a recurring dreamlike vision of someone they have not truly seen. There is a sense of repetition and creeping erasure, as seasons pass and the light in the room changes from day to day, yet the other person’s presence fades, returning only as a fleeting illusion, as in the line “Haven't left the bed in weeks”.

"Days" is a track by HMLTD, from the album The Worm, released 6th April 2023. The track is 4:30 long. It's filed under Indie Rock. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 9 articles about HMLTD.

Lyrics

Days

Days
Haven't left the bed in weeks
Every time I fall asleep
I only see your face
Haven't seen your face in years
Every time I reach for you
It disappears
Seasons come and die
Today the sun shines through my window blinds
Tomorrow it will rise
As surely as you will forget me

And when it rains
I waste away
Praying you won't leave me in the morning
Promised I would learn to let you go in time
I can't let you walk away
I can't watch you fall away
And so I feed your ghost
Talking in my sleep
I don't want to face the days
I don't want to ever wake
And so I feed your ghost
Keep it close to me
It's you, it's you, it's you
It's you, you, it's you
Haunt me 'til my dying days
Have I told you, darling
You're the ghost I fear the most
Stay and never leave
I remember yesterday
Torquay Harbour in the rain
But all the while the thing
Was growing deep in me
Going deep in me
Still eating me

No tomorrow
No tomorrow
Not today

HMLTD: "We are really just massively opposed to irony"

Not long ago, HMLTD were the least ‘major label’ band to be signed to one in years. Now, they’ve cut ties and finally have a debut album to deliver.
