About This Track

Manchester rapper and singer IAMDDB released 'Shade' in August 2017 as part of 'Hoodrich, Vol. 3', her third instalment in the series that established her languid, genre-blurring sound. The track appeared via Union IV Recordings and found its way onto OVO Sound Radio's playlist, an early signal of the cross-Atlantic attention her work was beginning to draw. Built around a sparse, hypnotic chorus and a rhythm that leaves plenty of air in the arrangement, the song toggles between swaggering self-assertion and moments of unexpected vulnerability.
