IVE's 'Baddie' is a defiant sprint through the group's refusal to be pinned down. The track pairs a propulsive beat with vocals that dart between swagger and precision, built on the central conceit of evasion: "Catch me if you can" becomes both taunt and mantra. The song moves through a series of self-assertions, each one a small rejection of expectation, whether that's the pressure to perform nicence or the demand to fit neatly into a predetermined role. The lyrical architecture is clever. Rather than the bombast you might expect from a track called 'Baddie', IVE favour specificity: blue blood runs through their DNA, they've already left the room before anyone notices, they'd rather act than deliberate. There's a lightness to it, a refusal to take the posture too seriously, which is precisely what makes it work. The song doesn't announce itself as rebellious; it simply moves past the conversation and carries on.
