IVE have released their new mini-album 'IVE Empathy'
The K-pop group return with their third mini-album featuring 'Attitude' and 'Rebel Heart' as title tracks, exploring themes of empathy.
About This Track
'Heya' finds IVE in predatory mode, all coiled tension and appetite. The track builds around a central metaphor of hunger and capture: eyes that stalk, claws that wait, a mouth ready to swallow whole. It's a song about desire as a kind of stalking, framed through animal instinct rather than romance. The production mirrors this, moving from whispered verses into a chorus that swells with confidence, each repetition of "해야" (must do it) landing like a pounce. What makes the song work is its refusal to soften the conceit. There's no apology in the lyrics, no pretence that this wanting is anything other than what it is. IVE lean into the predatory language without irony but also without aggression; it's a performance of hunger, theatrical and controlled. The melody sits somewhere between a taunt and a dare, and the production gives them space to make both gestures land at once. It's a track that understands the appeal of being the threat in the room.
"HEYA" is a track by IVE, from the album IVE SWITCH - EP, released 28th April 2024. The track is 3:10 long. It's filed under K-Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 4 articles about IVE.
