About This Track

'Dissolve' closes the first half of Joji's third studio album with a portrait of exhaustion and drift. The track finds him wrestling with the weight of being himself, caught between the desire to escape his own mind and the fear of being left behind. There's a pleading quality to the vocals, a sense of someone watching a relationship or connection slip away despite their efforts to hold on. The song circles around a central question: "Who are we? Who have we become?" It's a refrain that suggests less a search for identity than a reckoning with how far two people have drifted from what they once were. The production is sparse and measured, letting the lyrical anxiety breathe. Joji's delivery carries the weight of someone who knows the answer might be dissolution itself.
