About This Track

The fourth track on Joji's debut EP 'In Tongues', 'Window' was teased in snippet form in May 2017 before the EP's November release. The song adopts the voice of someone in crisis, its imagery of closed eyes and refusal of an antidote framing a wish for permanent escape. Joji sings of a world that feels better in dreams, the sun no longer shining, the desire to sleep forever. The production is spare and the delivery measured, the repetition of certain phrases lending the track a hypnotic, withdrawn quality. Performed at the 88rising x Boiler Room live concert, 'Window' sits within the EP's broader exploration of isolation and emotional withdrawal, its subject matter handled with care rather than spectacle.
