About This Track
Ka opens his album with a portrait of moral fracture. The track lays out the central tension: a mother's plea for safety and goodness against a father's instruction to stay armed, a childhood split between survival and virtue. The verses map this conflict across a life shaped by scarcity and street logic, where hunger breeds schemes and the hunger for respect demands a harder edge. Ka moves between these poles without resolution, tracing how necessity hardens into habit, how the need to eat becomes the need to take. The production sits sparse and deliberate, letting the words land with weight. Ka's delivery is measured, almost conversational, which makes the material heavier; there is no performance, only testimony. He speaks in specifics: the coke drought, the grammar school hammers, the people who pay for mistakes they did not make. The chorus returns to that opening conflict, the two voices that shaped him, neither one wrong exactly, both one true. It is a song about being caught between worlds, and about the cost of that catching.
