Lyrics
[Intro: Mike Shinoda, Audience] Alright you guys, we'll give you one more shot You ready? Who could rock a rhyme like this? I can Bring it to you every time like this? I can Who could rock a rhyme like this? I can Step, step up, step, step up San Diego, you guys are f— ready! [Verse 1: Mike Shinoda, Mike Shinoda & Chester Bennington] Watch as the room rocks, mentally moonwalk Mixed Media slangs bangin' in your boombox Verbal violence, lyrical stylist In a time when rock hip-hop rhymes are childish You can't tempt me with rhymes that are empty Rappin' to a beat doesn't make you an MC Lack of skill and facility, you're killin' me With a DJ in the group just for credibility I heard that some of you are gettin' help with your rhymes You're not an MC if someone else writes your lines Rappin' over rock doesn't make you a pioneer 'Cause rock and hip-hop have collaborated for years Now they're gettin' randomly mixed and matched up All after a fast buck, and all the tracks suck So how does it stack up? None of it's real You wanna be an MC? You've gotta study the skill Come on [Chorus: Mike Shinoda & Chester Bennington, Audience] Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Bring it to you every time like this? I can! Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Step, step up! Step, step up! [Verse 2: Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington, Both] So you pick up a pen and write yourself a new identity But mentally, you don't have the hip-hop energy With a tendency to make up stories (Bull—) Sounding like the only hip hop you've heard is top 40 (Top 40) And your record company is completely missin' it All the kids are dissin' it for not bein' legitimate So in a battle, you can't hack and react with wack shit And get smacked with verbal backflips Get your ass kicked by fabulous battle catalysts It's taken decades for MC's to establish this You're new to hip-hop, and welcome if you're serious But not on the mic, leave that to the experienced [Interlude: Mike Shinoda] San Diego, make some noise! Alriight ya'll, help us out with this shit right now [Chorus: Mike Shinoda & Chester Bennington, Audience, Mike Shinoda] Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Bring it to you every time like this? I can! Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Step, step up! Step, step up! C'mon Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Bring it to you every time like this? I can! Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Step, step up! Step, step up! Step up! [Bridge: Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington, both] My side, make some noise real quick Alright Everybody over here make some noise! My side, let me see y'all puttin' the hands in the air real quick Y'all, put 'em down, for the— Alright, everybody over here, put up those hands Alright, now, put down those hands like this Let's see everybody in the house Chester your side or my side (Alright everybody) Everybody in the house put your hands up, c'mon! Put 'em up, put 'em up Now put 'em down y'all, put 'em down, put 'em down (Alright) You ready? You ready to put your hands up again? (From side to side!) Put 'em from side to side, like this ya'll (C'mon!) Wave 'em to side to side, like this ya'll (C'mon, c'mon!) C'mon, y'all! C'mon, y'all! Wave 'em to side to side, like this ya'll (Put 'em up, put 'em up!) Put 'em up, bro, put 'em up, y'all (Side to side y'all) Put 'em up, put 'em up, put 'em up y'all (Side to side y'all) That's right ya'll (C'mon!) Give 'em up now, give 'em up now (C'mon, c'mon!) Let's do this, c'mon! [Chorus: Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington, Both, Audience] Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Bring it to you every time like this? I can! Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Step, step up! Step, step up! Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Bring it to you every time like this? I can! Who can rock a rhyme like this? I can! Step, step up! Step, step up! Step up! [Outro: Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington] Alright, San Diego, thank you guys very much Right now, we're gonna check out some sounds from our DJ (You guys kick ass man) He goes by the name of Mr. Hahn You feelin' that, y'all? San Diego, make some noise
