‘Breakers’ by Local Natives is an alternative track from the album ‘Hummingbird’ (2013). The lyrics frame a bleak, self-analysing mood, with the speaker waiting for words to land and feeling watched and exposed, as the colour drains from their eyes. A cold sense of entrapment runs through the imagery, right down to the line about leaving the lights on because they still cannot see out, even as others look in.
"Breakers" is a single by Local Natives, from the album Hummingbird, released 28th January 2013. The track is 4:09 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 6 articles about Local Natives.
