About This Track

'Genius' is a playful exchange between Labrinth and Sia, each claiming the title for themselves on the grounds that loving someone so complicated requires exceptional intelligence. The track trades verses and harmonies over a stuttering electronic beat, the chorus built around a cheerful stammer that turns self-aggrandisement into a shared joke. Diplo's production keeps the arrangement light and bouncy, the interlude breaks punctuated by his vocal tags.

Labrinth opens with a series of rhetorical questions, 'Do you think I'm stupid?', 'Do you think I'm helpless?', before declaring that his devotion makes him a genius. Sia responds in kind, invoking Einstein, Newton, Galileo, and Hawking as points of comparison, insisting that only someone of rare intellect could navigate the demands of loving her. The bridge shifts the metaphor slightly: 'You're the lock and I'm the key', the pair framing their relationship as a puzzle only they can solve.
