About This Track

'Hideaway' by Mallrat is a 2025 pop song from the album 'Light hit my face like a straight right'. The lyrics sketch a buoyant, slightly dangerous romance fantasy, with the singer floating between apology and ambition, talking up a clean escape from hurt while admitting that emotional damage may simply be displaced, not avoided. The mood sits somewhere between sweet and sharp, as the refrain of “Wanna fly up, never come down” captures the wish to rise without landing.

"Hideaway" is a track by Mallrat, from the album Light hit my face like a straight right, released 14th February 2025. The track is 2:58 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 13 articles about Mallrat.

Lyrics

Hideaway

Wanna fly up, never come down
You and I on a number nine cloud
Break a few hearts, let 'em all down
Tell your other girls never come 'round

I just think it's someone else's turn for getting hurt
I'm starting to believe that this is something that could work
Wanna say I'm sorry, didn't mean to brush you off
Built up my defences and I'm always acting tough
But I just wanna see you when I open up the door
I think I'm gonna miss ya when it's time to go on tour
I just wanna make your life as good as it can get
I'll be your lucky charm, just let me hang around your neck

Dance until the night's the morning
I'm still here, 'cause you're still here
Dance until the night's the morning
Let's hideaway, hideaway

And I hold back singing your praise, yeah I know
That I'm standing in my own way, woah
And you won't believe what I'd say, so I don't
But do you understand that I'm missing your face?
Oh I can't wait to go back

I just think it's someone else's turn for getting hurt
I'm starting to believe that this is something that could work
Wanna say I'm sorry, didn't mean to brush you off
Built up my defences and I'm always acting tough
But I just wanna see you when I open up the door
I think I'm gonna miss ya when it's time to go on tour
I just wanna make your life as good as it can get
I'll be your lucky charm, just let me hang around your neck

Dance until the night's the morning
I'm still here, 'cause you're still here
Dance until the night's the morning
Let's hideaway, hideaway

Dance
I'm still here, 'cause you're still here
Dance until the night's the morning
Let's hideaway, hideaway
