About This Track

mgk adopts the voice of someone trapped in a cycle of relapse, cycling through the same destructive patterns with the resigned certainty of someone who knows better but cannot stop. The song pivots between substance use and romantic entanglement, treating both as interchangeable forms of self-sabotage. He frames youth as an excuse, promising reformation that never arrives, each verse returning to the same refrain: I'm still young, I'll grow up next summer. The track builds its emotional weight through specificity. A heart-shaped pill, a drink spilled on a car seat, hotel floors serving as ashtrays, the casual cruelty of posting pictures to provoke a reaction.
