About This Track

A portrait of seduction and self-deception, 'Dangerous' frames a man caught between desire and distrust. The song moves through spoken interludes that build a narrative of escalating entanglement: a woman whose presence commands a room, whose touch blinds him to her manipulation, whose departure leaves him alone and praying. Jackson's vocal performance shifts between conversational verses and emphatic ad-libs, the production creating space for the tension between attraction and warning to breathe. The track explores familiar emotional terrain: a lover who takes his money and time, who calls at will, who leaves him standing alone. Yet the song's power lies not in plot but in the gap between knowledge and feeling. He knows she is no good for him; he cannot sleep without her. The spoken passages, drawing on biblical imagery of seduction, elevate the song beyond a simple relationship complaint into something closer to a meditation on how desire can override judgment. Written and produced by Jackson alongside Bill Bottrell and Teddy Riley, 'Dangerous' closes the album of the same name with a final acknowledgement of vulnerability masquerading as warning.

"Dangerous" is a track by Michael Jackson, from the album Dangerous, released 26th November 1991. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about Michael Jackson.

Lyrics

Dangerous

[Spoken Intro]

The way she came into the place, I knew right then and there

There was something different about this girl

The way she moved her hair, her face, her lines

Divinity in motion

As she stalked the room, I could feel the aura of her presence

Every head turned feeling passion and lust

The girl was persuasive, the girl I could not trust

The girl was bad, the girl was dangerous

[Verse 1]

I never knew but I was walkin' the line (Hee!)

"Come go with me," I said, "I have no time (Hee-hee!)

And don't you pretend we didn't talk on the phone" (Hee!)

My baby cried, she left me standin' alone (Hee! Hee!)

[Chorus]

She's so dangerous

The girl is so dangerous (Hee-hee!)

Take away my money

Throw away my time

You can call me honey

But you're no damn good for me

[Spoken Interlude]

She came at me in sections with the eyes of desire

I fell trapped into her web of sin

A touch, a kiss, a whisper of love, I was at the point of no return

Deep in the darkness of passion's insanity

I felt taken by lust's strange inhumanity

This girl was persuasive, this girl, I could not trust

The girl was bad, the girl was dangerous

[Verse 2]

I never knew but I was living in vain (Hee!)

She called my house, she said, "You know my name"

(She called me)

And don't you pretend you never did me before" (Don't you, don't you, do it!) (Hee!)

With tears in her eyes, my baby walked out the door

(Don't you, don't you, don't you) (Hee! Hee! Hee! Hee!)

[Chorus]

She's so dangerous

The girl is so dangerous (Hee-hee!)

Take away my money, throw away my time

You can call me honey

But you're no damn good for me

Dangerous

The girl is so dangerous (Hee-hee!) (Dog gone!)

I have to pray to God

'Cause I know how lust can blind

It's a passion in my soul

But you're no damn lover friend of mine

[Ad-Libs]

Hee-hee!

Ooh!

Ooh!

Hoo!

[Bridge]

I cannot sleep alone at night

My baby left me here tonight

I cannot cope 'til it's all right

You and your manipulation, you hurt my baby!

[Spoken Interlude]

And then it happened, she touched me

For the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb

And her mouth was smoother than oil

But her inner spirit and words were as sharp as a two-edged sword

But I loved it, 'cause it's dangerous

[Chorus]

Dangerous (Hee!)

The girl is so dangerous (Hee-hee, hee!)

Take away my money

Throw away my time (Oh!)

You can call me honey

But you're no damn good for me

Dangerous (Hee!)

The girl is so dangerous (Hee-hee!) (Hee!)

Take away my money, throw away my time (Dog gone!) (Oh!)

You can call me honey

But you're no damn good for me

Dangerous (Hee!)

The girl is so dangerous (Hee-hee!)

Take away my money, throw away my time (Woah!) (Oh, yeah!)

You can call me honey

But you're no damn good for me

Dangerous (Hee! Hee!)

The girl is so dangerous (Hoo-hee! Hoo!) (Dog gone!)

I have to pray to God

'Cause I know how lust can blind

It's a passion in my soul

But you're no damn lover friend of mine (Hoo!)

[Outro]

Hoo!

Hoo!

My baby

You been, you take, uh

You don't, you don't, don't

Mess with my baby

Hoo! Hoo!

Hoo!

Hoo!

Hoo!

Hoo!

Dee-da, dum

Dee-da, dee-da

Hoo!

Dee-da, dee-da

Hoo!
