About This Track

'Insomnia' by Normani is a 2024 pop track from the album 'DOPAMINE'. The lyrics move through restless doubt and emotional recovery, as the narrator claims to be doing better and stopping the tears, then circles back to obsession and memories. There is a push-pull tension around a person who decides to “hit” her, prompting reminiscence and questions about whether they miss her, with drinking introduced as a possible cause of the spiral. One moment the song sounds like a truce with the worst of it, the next it’s back to sleepless, self-interrogating longing.

"Insomnia" is a track by Normani, from the album DOPAMINE, released 13th June 2024. The track is 3:49 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 5 articles about Normani.

Lyrics

Insomnia

I thought that I've been going crazy
But I'm doing better lately
I finally stopped the tears from runnin'
And I know that's gotta count for somethin'
But when you decide to hit me
I reminisce on all the history
And if it ain't because of the whiskey
I wonder if you really miss me
Boy, you got some device that tells you when I'm fine
'Cause it's the very moment that you hit my line
I wonder how you know that I've been movin' on
'Cause it seems like you really love to make that shit impossible
I wish you didn't call me
There's so much it reminds me of
'Cause every time you call me
It's givin' me insomnia (I wish you didn't)
I wish you didn't call me, yeah (I wish you didn't, yeah)
There's so much it reminds me of (I wish you didn't)
'Cause every time you call me (I wish you didn't)
It's givin' me insomnia
Insomnia, ah
It's givin' me insomnia
Insomnia, ah (insomnia)
It's givin' me insomnia
Turned into an inconvenience
You only want me when convenient
I know that I could probably block you
But for some reason, I wanna see you
And you know I give a damn about you
You got me sittin' here thinkin' about you
And now your name triggers all my emotions
And turn my eyes into an ocean
Like you got some device that tells you when I'm fine
'Cause it's the very moment that you hit my line
I wonder how you know that I've been movin' on
'Cause it seems like you really love to make that shit impossible
I wish you didn't call me (call me)
There's so much it reminds me of
'Cause every time you call me (oh yeah)
It's givin' me insomnia (I wish you didn't call me, I wish you didn't)
I wish you didn't call me, yeah (I wish you didn't, there's so much it reminds me of)
There's so much it reminds me of (I wish you didn't, I wish you didn't)
'Cause every time you call me, yeah (I wish you didn't, I wish you didn't)
It's givin' me insomnia
Insomnia, ah (insomnia)
It's givin' me insomnia
Insomnia, ah (insomnia)
It's givin' me insomnia
Insomnia, ah
It's givin' me insomnia
I wish you didn't call me (I wish you didn't)
Somethin' it reminds me of (I wish you didn't, I wish you didn't)
'Cause every time you call me (I wish you didn't, I wish you didn't)
Yeah, there's so much it reminds me of (I wish you didn't)
Insomnia, ah (I wish you didn't, insomnia)
'Cause every time you call me (call me, call me, insomnia)
Insomnia, ah
Insomnia, ah
