About This Track

‘Defense’ by Panda Bear is an alternative track on the album ‘Sinister Grift’, released in 2025. The lyrics cast a speaker who feels worn down and abandoned, moving from vulnerability into repetition, then landing on the plea to be met with “Lookin’ for defense”. It is restless and self-questioning, with the line of thought circling around what the situation has become and whether anything remains to do but surrender to grief.

"Defense" is a single by Panda Bear, from the album Sinister Grift, released 28th February 2025. The track is 4:35 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 3 articles about Panda Bear.

Lyrics

Defense

Defense
I'm in deep
I could use you by my side
In some sense
Feel like I'm beat down
Let down by your pride

What's it become?
What's it become?
What's it become?
What's it become?

Lookin' for defense
Nothin' left to do
But hang my head and cry
What was the intent?
Lookin' to prove
This move is dignified
If you got an alibi

Give me some
Give me some
Give me some
Give me some

I found a defect
I'm tryin' to detect
Symbols of a crime
Respect
Tryin' to reset
What's inside my mind

This place I can't occupy

Here I come
Here I come
Here I come
Here I come
Here I come

This place I can't occupy

Here I come
Here I come
Here I come
Here I come
Here I come
