Domination is built around one of Pantera's most distinctive moments: a breakdown so forceful it has become the template against which the band's own later work is measured. Philip Anselmo's vocals move between narrative clarity and raw intensity, describing a state of psychological and physical entrapment where control becomes absolute and resistance collapses. The song trades in images of constraint and degradation, each verse tightening the grip. What makes the track work is its refusal to soften the subject matter with metaphor. Anselmo sings of binds like steel, of bodies suspended, of brick-by-brick enclosure, each detail accumulating into something genuinely oppressive. The pre-chorus breaks the tension just enough to let the chorus land with full weight: the repetition of the title word itself becomes a kind of domination, hammered home until it loses meaning and becomes pure sound. It's heavy metal as physical experience rather than abstraction.
