About This Track

Periphery channel Viking conquest mythology through 'Blood Eagle', a five-minute metal track built on Norse imagery and martial percussion. The song adopts the voice of a raiding force, invoking Thor's hammer and Valhalla's promise whilst Christian resistance crumbles. Drums beat, screams repeat, and the narrative sweeps across conquest and bloodshed with theatrical intensity. The title refers to a legendary execution method, and the lyrics lean hard into the brutality of the conceit. Periphery layer the invocation of Valkyries and the moon's dominion over the fallen against pleas to a silent heaven, constructing a vision of total spiritual and physical defeat for the conquered. The repetition of "let 'em sing" and "now sing" builds a choral weight, turning suffering into something almost ceremonial.
