About This Track
'Swallow' by Placebo is a 1996 song with a spoken, fragmented delivery that plays like a surreal, anxious inventory of things taken and lost. The lyrics lean into intrusion and containment, with repeated references to confiscation and a razor blade, then pivot to confusion and stammering uncertainty about where something has gone, culminating in the blunt inability to remember. Over an instrumental intro, the voice keeps interrupting itself, as if the act of trying to hold on to information is already slipping away. The only clear anchor comes in the line “I forgot where I put it”.
"Swallow" is a track by Placebo, released 17th June 1996. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 7 articles about Placebo.
