Placebo have reworked their debut album and are heading out on an extensive arena tour
The reimagined take on Placebo's 1996 debut arrives alongside a 36-date UK and European arena run.

Three decades after the release of their first record, Placebo have unveiled plans for 'Placebo RE:CREATED' – a reimagined take on their 1996 debut – alongside a 36-date arena tour spanning the UK and Europe through late 2026.
Working from the original master tapes, Brian Molko and Rob Kirwan pieced together the reworked album, which was mixed by Adam Noble. All ten original tracks appear in new versions, joined by two bonus tracks from the initial release. Singles 'Nancy Boy' and '36 Degrees' both feature among the revisited material.
Speaking about the project, Placebo said: "We think of this record as a director's cut. We haven't recreated it from scratch. We went back to the original master tapes and brought 30 years of playing these songs live back into the record. This project was about finally finishing the record, dragging it into the 21st century sonically, while preserving the integrity and the spirit of the original. It's not about improving it, there's nothing wrong with it, it's about completing it. When we made the first album, we didn't yet have the experience or the studio knowledge to fully translate what was in our heads. Over the years, the songs took on a life of their own on stage; they grew, they developed, they kind of completed themselves. It's a celebration of where we began, and a meeting point between who we were then and who we are now. It's a way of honouring that innocence, while letting the songs exist with the scale, confidence, and energy of the band we've become."
'Placebo RE:CREATED' arrives on 19th June 2026 via Elevator Lady Ltd through AWAL, with pre-orders opening on 18th March across multiple physical formats including 1CD, 2CD, cassette, a box set, and five vinyl variants featuring a picture disc.
The accompanying anniversary tour begins in Portugal during September 2026, winding through arenas across Europe before concluding with UK dates in late November and December. Throughout the run, the band will draw from both 'Placebo' and 'Without You I'm Nothing', revisiting material that has not been played live for over two decades in some cases.
Ahead of all that, Placebo are due at the Royal Albert Hall on 28th March for the Teenage Cancer Trust concert series, performing alongside Garbage at the invitation of The Cure's Robert Smith.
