About This Track

'Memory' by Popcaan is a 2021 track in which the lyrics rail against fake friends and disposable loyalty, returning again and again to the idea of things that “Dem is just a memory”. The verses sketch a scene of people trying to look useful, then being recognised as copies, with the repeated emphasis on distrust and detachment. The tone is accusatory and wary, more concerned with who is sincere than with what is actually being lost.
