About This Track

'Superstar' by Popcaan is a 2018 reggae track from the album 'Forever'. The lyrics adopt a boastful, streetwise perspective, setting up hunger and hustling as the starting point, then pivoting to threats and a fearsome reputation. A crunching catalogue of street survival and refusal to back down gives the song a confrontational, high-pressure mood, with one line reduced to a curt menace, “Like a dog”. Dre Skull, oh-eh-oh, punctuates the stance, while the repeated images of time passing and daily grind keep the emphasis on persistence, danger, and ego.

"Superstar" is a track by Popcaan, from the album Forever, released 19th July 2018. The track is 2:56 long. It's filed under Reggae. Full lyrics are available below.

Dre Skull, oh-eh-oh

Nowadays mi just sit at di top
Shame every dutty mouth weh did a chat
Swear to God I'm winning
Inna di hills I'm chilling
Strong like mi a feed pon spinach
Mi name global like Guinness
Notnice, man a star, man a star
Man a super
Man a star, man a star

Yuh can ask grandma 'bout me
Man a star from day one

Everybody seh mi sell out, and mi sure dem buy
Dem know mi great 'cause mi show dem why
If dem can't see dat, then mi know dem blind
Unruly a di Golden Child
Chosen Child
Man a star, man a star
Man a super
Man a star, man a star
Man a super (star)
Yuh can ask Muslim 'bout me
Man a star from day one
Yeah, man a star, man a star
Man a super (star)
To me there ain't no challenger
No matter dem age pon di calendar
Dem artist ya rate mi so much when dem go a dem yard

Then fuck dem gal pon mi veranda

Swear to God I'm winning
Inna di hills I'm chilling
Strong like mi a feed pon spinach
Mi name global like Guinness
Notnice, man a star, man a star
Man a super
Man a star, man a star
Man a super (star)
Yuh can ask Muslim 'bout me
Man a star from day one
