About This Track

‘Silhouettes’ by Preoccupations is a 2015 track from ‘Viet Cong’. The lyrics look at intoxication and disorienting momentum, with images of “drunken silhouettes” and a sense of consequence slipping away. There is a restless, questioning edge, as the narrator asks whether anything follows from getting lost in time, then lands on uncontrollable outbursts and the urge to undo damage. The song’s pressure comes from that collision between self-aware doubt and escalating, apparently uncontainable behaviour.
