About This Track

'Adieu' moves through death with the weight of a funeral hymn. Rammstein sing in German, English and French, their voices layered in a requiem that acknowledges mortality without flinching: only death lasts forever, the song observes, and even the sun will burn out. The arrangement is sparse and heavy, letting the words breathe in the dark. The chorus cycles through farewells in three languages, a final song and kiss offered to someone at the threshold. There is no miracle coming, Rammstein insist, but neither is there abandonment; the living will be there, even as the dying walk that last path alone. It is a song about the solitude of death and the solidarity of grief, held in the same breath.
