About This Track

'Toro' finds Remi Wolf in a state of unguarded desire, the track a showcase for her ability to slide between vocal registers without losing the thread of the song. She moves from crooning restraint to breathless urgency, matching the escalating intimacy of the scene she's painting: a hotel room, wine spilled, the two of them loud enough to disturb the guests downstairs. The production, courtesy of Jared Solomon alongside co-writers Ethan Gruska and Jack DeMeo, wraps her voice in warmth and swagger, all analogue texture meeting digital precision. What makes the track work is the refusal to apologise. Wolf doesn't soften the appetite she's describing or dress it up in metaphor beyond the bullfighting conceit of the title itself. She wants, she takes, she sings about it with the kind of unembellished confidence that pop music often reserves for men.
