About This Track

'Diamonds' is the second single from Sam Smith's third studio album 'Love Goes', released through Capitol Records in September 2020. Written by Smith with producers Shellback and Oscar Görres, the track marks a shift towards a more upbeat sound within the record's emotional arc. The song frames heartbreak through the language of material exchange. Smith sings of a relationship where affection was conditional, the narrator left to 'shake the fear of feeling lost' whilst their former partner departs with both literal and metaphorical valuables.
