About This Track

'Perfect' by Sam Smith is a 2023 pop track from the album 'Gloria'. The lyrics set up an unvarnished self-assessment, with the singer rejecting perfection and insisting they still deserve to be valued. There is a sense of emotional whiplash in lines about going up and down, and a move away from nightlife once it starts to feel lonely. The song then turns towards the possibility of a new match, with the voice weighing up whether it might be the right guy. One line sums up the attitude, “I’m not perfect”.

"Perfect" is a track by Sam Smith, from the album Gloria, released 27th January 2023. The track is 3:52 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about Sam Smith.

Lyrics

Perfect

I'm not perfect, but I'm worth it
I'm not perfect, but I'm working on it
I go up, I go down, I go all the way around
I'm not perfect, but I'm worth it
I used to love the nightlife
'Til the nightlife got too lonely
Might be time for the right guy
Got a feeling that it could be you
You like them crazy, do you?
I'm crazy through and through
I wear my flaws like jewelry
And I'm dripping
Yo, I used to love the nightlife
'Til the nightlife got too boring
Might be time for the right guy
Got a feeling that it could be you
Could be you, should be you
Two plus two makes one in love
It could be us, baby touch, I'm soft to touch, yeah
I'm not perfect, but I'm worth it
I'm not perfect, but I'm working on it
I go up, I go down, I go all the way around
I'm not perfect, but I'm worth it
Big lips, just how I like
Be brave, boy, put them on me
I go crazy in the twilight
Got a feeling like you do too (yeah)
You love that trouble, do you?
I'm trouble through and through (I'm trouble)
I wear my flaws like jewelry
And I'm dripping
You like them crazy, do you? (Crazy)
I'm crazy through and through (through and through, yeah)
I wear my flaws like jewelry
And I'm dripping
I'm not perfect, but I'm worth it
I'm not perfect, but I'm working on it
I go up, I go down, I go all the way around
I'm not perfect, but I'm worth it
But I'm worth it (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oh (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oh (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Hey, you know I'm not perfect
Hey, you know I'm just worth it
Yeah, you know, yeah, you know, yeah, you know
Yeah, you know, yeah, you know
That I'm worth it, ooh, I'm worth it
You know I'm worth it, you know I'm worth it
You know I'm worth it, yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah (mmm)
