About This Track
A brief, sharp study in the aftermath of casual intimacy. SZA moves through the immediate regret and lingering desire with characteristic precision: the sex happened, it was good, and now the friendship has fractured under the weight of it. She doesn't apologise for the act itself, only for the rupture it caused. The chorus pivots on a simple question: can they still touch, still love, still exist together without judgment, even though everything has shifted? The song's real tension sits in that gap between "it was worth it" and "now I regret it all". SZA holds both truths at once, refusing easy resolution. By the outro she's asking the same questions again, as if repetition might wear a path back to something workable. The production is lean and direct, letting her voice carry the weight of contradiction. At just over a minute long, it lands and leaves before you can settle into it, which feels exactly right.
"Awkward" is a track by SZA, from the album Ctrl (Deluxe), released 9th June 2022. It's filed under R&B/Soul. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about SZA.

'Middle of Nowhere' arrives on 1st May through Lost Highway Records.

There’s a pop dungeon where artists live, sometimes for years, where they say, “it’s coming!” about an album that’s in the works (ahem, Rihanna, ahem, Sky Ferreira). SZA did a stint down there after releasing her cult and critical fave debut ‘Ctrl’ in 2017.
A great leap forward from now indisputable pop superstar.

The clip follows SZA as she exacts her revenge on her ex-boyfriend.

A 20 second clip appears to be heavily influenced by the Quentin Tarantino film of the same name.
