SZA examines the exhaustion of an unequal relationship over a minimal, floating production. She opens with self-awareness, acknowledging her own flaws whilst laying out the terms of reciprocity: give as much as you take, forgive as much as you hate. The logic is clean and unforgiving. What follows is the sound of someone worn down, caught between staying and leaving, caught between the metaphor of drowning and the metaphor of being lost without direction. James Fauntleroy joins for the chorus, his voice lifting the track into something almost weightless. The production stays spare, letting the emotional arithmetic breathe. SZA's delivery is conversational, even casual, which makes the resignation underneath it all the more cutting. She's not dramatising the moment; she's simply naming it.
"Wavy (Interlude)" is a track by SZA, from the album Ctrl, released 9th June 2017. It's filed under R&B/Soul. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about SZA.

There’s a pop dungeon where artists live, sometimes for years, where they say, “it’s coming!” about an album that’s in the works (ahem, Rihanna, ahem, Sky Ferreira). SZA did a stint down there after releasing her cult and critical fave debut ‘Ctrl’ in 2017.
A great leap forward from now indisputable pop superstar.
