About This Track
Released on Travis Scott's fourth studio album 'Utopia' in July 2023, 'FE!N' is a high-energy collaboration with Playboi Carti built around the slang term for intense craving or dependence. The track debuted at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, later sent to US rhythmic radio as the album's fifth single in March 2024.
Produced by Scott and Jahaan Sweet, the song adopts the aggressive 'rage' aesthetic both artists have championed, Scott rapping about the pressures of success at career peak whilst Carti delivers his characteristically frenetic verse. The repetitive title hook functions as both mantra and warning, the production spare and relentless. Gabriel Moses directed the accompanying video, which nods to 'Utopia's cover art through its black backdrop and visual motifs.
The lyrics trace a familiar arc of excess and paranoia, Scott crediting focus on the future over the present, Carti adopting a posture of reckless momentum. The word itself hangs over the track like a diagnosis, the chorus chanted rather than sung, the whole thing built for arenas and festival crowds already primed to shout it back.
"FE!N" is a track by Travis Scott, from the album UTOPIA, released 28th July 2023. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 4 articles about Travis Scott.
