About This Track
Released as the second single from the 'In A Dream' EP on 15th July 2020, 'Easy' finds Troye Sivan navigating the wreckage of a relationship upended by infidelity. The song adopts the perspective of someone caught between lingering love and the reality of betrayal, the narrator unable to make eye contact whilst the domestic space around them warps and burns. Sivan credits the ease with which a third party entered the picture, the refrain oscillating between acknowledgment of that fact and a plea not to be abandoned. The imagery is precise and physical: distorting floorboards, a house on fire, tears evaporating in the heat. The production allows the lyric's quiet devastation to sit front and centre, the chorus cycling through resignation and desperation in equal measure. The track arrived alongside the EP's announcement, following 'Take Yourself Home' as the project's lead single earlier that spring. It captures a specific emotional paralysis, the moment when blame and longing occupy the same breath.
