About This Track

The opening track from Turnover's third album, 'Super Natural' arrives with the ease of a summer memory. Built on a groove-laden rhythm that recalls The Beach Boys, the song slides into its chorus with the kind of hook that lodges itself in your head for days: "When nothing was ahead of us, that week in California." It's a perfect distillation of what 'Good Nature' sets out to do, capturing the band's confidence in letting their sound expand whilst proving that crafting catchy pop melodies comes naturally to them. Lyrically, the track is drenched in nostalgic imagery. Turnover paint scenes of beach carnivals and foggy California afternoons, the narrator unable to quite explain the feeling of connection that runs through it all. There's a haze to the whole thing, a sense of memory half-remembered or perhaps half-imagined, which matches the shimmering guitar tones and laid-back vocal delivery that define the song. A Dork three-star record, and the perfect entry point to an album designed as a soundtrack for hazy summer days.
