About This Track

'Exit' by U2 is a 1987 rock track from the album 'The Joshua Tree'. The lyrics follow a restless figure who “wanted to believe”, moving through a bleak, travel-worn mood of doubt and longing, with images of heavyheaded fatigue and an anguished, doglike cry. It plays out as a dark-eyed search for love’s steadiness, before the sense of drift hardens into something more primal, with repeated references to a howling wind.
