About This Track

'Red Light' by U2 is a 1983 track from the album 'War'. The lyrics cast the speaker as offering help and love, only to be refused as the other person keeps walking away, even when they seem trapped by their own attempts to escape themselves. A repeated address, “I give you my love”, sits against the refrain of departure, turning the song into a tense, plea-driven exchange rather than a straightforward romance. The mood is restless and self-questioning, with each reversal pushing the relationship further into stalemate.
