Released in April 2025 as the intended second single from Ye's unreleased album 'Cuck', 'COUSINS' is a two-part track built on samples of Double Virgo's 'were there originals' and Dave Blunts' '10 PERCS'. The song moves from confessional narrative to dependency-laced refrain, the first section recounting a childhood sexual encounter with a cousin and the anticipated judgement that follows disclosure, whilst the second shifts into a plea for companionship undercut by references to nitrous oxide and prescription painkillers taken in quantity.
The lyric adopts a posture of defiant candour about the past incident, Ye insisting he is not attracted to men even as he anticipates misunderstanding. The second movement abandons that thread entirely, circling instead around fear of abandonment and the numbing routines of substance use, the repeated mention of ten tablets and codeine cough syrup framing euphoria as something chemical rather than relational. The tonal break between the two parts is abrupt, the bridge offering little connective tissue beyond the shared undercurrent of anxiety.
"COUSINS" is a track by Ye, from the album CUCK, released 21st April 2025. Full lyrics are available below.
