Kero Kero Bonito – Civilisation II EP

It's bonkers but quite brilliant.

Label: AWAL
Released: 21st April 2021

Kero Kero Bonito are a band who know how to pack a whole lot of punch into a small package. The latest EP from the pop sonic explorers is ‘Civilisation II’, which is obvs a sequel to 2019’s ‘Civilisation I’ and features just three tracks. What three tracks they are though, as they represent the multi-faceted joy of a band who can do it all.

The three tracks all deal with a specific space and time ‘The Princess and the Clock (past) is a skyscraping synthy pop epic while ’21/4/20 (present)’ is sweet and blissful indie-pop with a futuristic vibe. It’s uber KKB. Rounding off the set is an intense remix of previous album track ‘Rest Stop’, newly entitled ‘Well Rested (future)’. The track is transformed into an intense deep electro workout that ends with the sound of a running waterfall. It’s bonkers but quite brilliant.
