Grizzly Bear is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002. The band initially began as a solo project for Edward Droste, releasing the lo-fi album Horn of Plenty in 2004 on Kanine Records, with Christopher Bear contributing drums. Subsequently, Daniel Rossen, Chris Taylor, and Christopher Bear joined the project, transforming it into a four-piece band. Rossen took on the roles of co-lead vocalist and second principal songwriter, while Taylor contributed as a producer and multi-instrumentalist. The band has employed both traditional and electronic instruments, and their music has been categorized as chamber pop, psychedelic folk, and art rock. Vocal harmony is a prominent feature, with all members contributing vocals and alternating lead vocals between Rossen and Droste. The band’s lineup has remained consistent since its formation, with members contributing to vocals, instrumentation, and production.
