Roadrunner

Roadrunner is a concert venue in the Brighton neighbourhood of Boston, opened in March 2022 after pandemic delays and, with a capacity of 3,500, the largest general-admission room in New England. Sat beside Boston Landing station and named after the Jonathan Richman song, it was built deliberately big: a 50,000-square-foot space with a stage wide enough to have been described as arena-sized, designed to fill the gap between the city's clubs and its full arenas.
It opened with a show from bluegrass star Billy Strings, and its early calendar made the ambition plain, with Olivia Rodrigo, Mitski, LCD Soundsystem, the Dropkick Murphys and The Decemberists among the names through the door. For a venue barely a few years old, it has slotted quickly into Boston's touring circuit as the city's go-to large general-admission room.
Citizens House of Blues Boston

The House of Blues in Boston, now carrying the sponsor name Citizens House of Blues Boston, sits on Lansdowne Street right alongside Fenway Park, about as central to the city's nightlife geography as a venue can get. It opened in 2009 on the site of the former Avalon and Axis nightclubs, a roughly 18,000 square foot room that can be configured for anything from a few dozen people to a full house of around 2,200, which gives it useful range across the booking calendar.
In the years since it has staged something north of 600 performances spanning rock, indie, hip hop and comedy. Adele played a sold-out show here in May 2011, early enough in her ascent to make the booking look prescient in hindsight, and the room has since settled into its role as one of Boston's busiest mid-to-large stages. The Fenway address does it no harm; on a gig night with a game next door, the whole block hums.
