Hana Vu, born in 2000, is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. She is of Vietnamese and Korean descent. Vu began writing songs as a child and started performing in Los Angeles by the age of 14, opening for bands such as Soccer Mommy and Wet. She shared music on SoundCloud and Bandcamp for several years before releasing her self-produced debut EP, How Many Times Have You Driven By, in 2018 through Luminelle Recordings, an imprint of Fat Possum. Prior to this, she collaborated with Willow Smith on the track Queen of High School. In 2019, Vu released the double EP Nicole Kidman / Anne Hathaway, named after her two favorite actresses. The cover features a painting she did of Anne Hathaway accepting an award, which she later distorted to resemble melting plastic. That year, she was included in The NME 100: Essential new artists for 2019, with the publication noting her ability to transform diary scribbles into indie rock. After graduating from high school, Vu moved out of her parents' house and resides in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles.
