
KT Tunstall, born Kate Victoria Tunstall on 23 June 1975, is a Scottish singer-songwriter and musician. She gained initial recognition with a live solo performance of her song 'Black Horse and the Cherry Tree' on Later... with Jools Holland in 2004. Her debut studio album, Eye to the Telescope, was released the same year and sold over five million copies worldwide. The album's title was inspired by her childhood experiences at her father's physics laboratory at the University of St Andrews. Tunstall has accumulated an estimated seven million record sales as of 2025. Her awards include a Q Award, European Border Breakers Award, two Ivor Novello Awards, a UK Music Video Award, and two BRIT Awards for Best British Female Artist and Best British Breakthrough. She has also received nominations for a Grammy Award, Mercury Music Prize, World Music Award, and Hollywood Music in Media Award. In addition to her music career, she has appeared in two episodes of the comedy series This is Jinsy on Sky Atlantic.
