M83 is a French electronic rock group formed in Antibes in 1999. The band was initially a duo composed of Nicolas Fromageau and Anthony Gonzalez. Fromageau left the group shortly after touring for their second album, Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts. Gonzalez has remained the sole constant member, serving as the primary songwriter and lead vocalist. The group has released nine studio albums, including the Grammy Award-nominated Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, and two soundtracks. Gonzalez records mainly on his own, often collaborating with guest musicians. M83 is signed to Mute Records. The band achieved breakout success in 2011 with the single 'Midnight City,' the lead track from Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. Their music has been described as encompassing genres such as dream pop, new wave, shoegaze, and ambient.
