Sam Ryder Robinson, born on 25 June 1989, is an English singer, songwriter, producer, actor, composer, and social media personality. He gained prominence in 2020 through posting music covers on TikTok during the first UK lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic. He signed with Parlophone Records before parting ways with the label in 2023. His music incorporates genres such as rock, pop, alternative rock, and metalcore. Ryder's vocal abilities, including his use of vibrato and falsetto, have received critical recognition. His notable achievement came when he represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song 'Space Man'. He scored 466 points, the highest for a UK entrant, and finished in second place, winning the jury vote. Ryder was the first British artist to receive a Marcel Bezençon Award. His entry marked the UK's best Eurovision result since 1998 and its first top-three finish since 2002. The song 'Space Man' reached number two on the UK Singles Chart, making it the highest-charting UK Eurovision entry since 1996.
