

Suicidal Tendencies is an American heavy metal band formed in 1980 in Venice, Los Angeles, California, by vocalist Mike Muir. The band has experienced numerous lineup changes, with Muir remaining the only original member. Its current lineup includes Muir, guitarists Dean Pleasants and Ben Weinman, bassist Tye Trujillo, and drummer Xavier "X" Ware. Over the years, various musicians have contributed to the band's studio and live performances, including Rocky George, Mike Clark, Robert Trujillo, Josh Paul, Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner, Jimmy DeGrasso, Brooks Wackerman, David Hidalgo Jr., Thomas Pridgen, Ron Bruner, Dave Lombardo, Brandon Pertzborn, Greyson Nekrutman, Jay Weinberg, and Josh Freese. Suicidal Tendencies is often credited as one of the pioneers of crossover thrash, alongside bands such as D.R.I., Corrosion of Conformity, and Stormtroopers of Death. The band has released fourteen studio albums, including some comprised of re-recorded or previously released material, as well as two EPs, four split albums, four compilation albums, and two long-form videos. Their 1983 self-titled debut album achieved success with the single 'Institutionalized,' which was among the first hardcore punk videos to receive significant airplay on MTV.
