The Dare is an American singer and musician, born Harrison Patrick Smith on March 19, 1996. He previously performed under the name Turtlenecked, releasing indie music in the Pacific Northwest. After relocating to New York City, he adopted the stage name The Dare and began writing songs under this moniker. He is known for his single 'Girls,' released in August 2022, and for producing Charli XCX's song 'Guess' from the deluxe edition of her 2024 album Brat. Smith signed with Republic Records and released The Sex EP on May 19, 2023, which received mixed reviews. In 2024, he released his debut studio album as The Dare, titled What's Wrong with New York?, which garnered largely positive reviews. The artist is associated with the indie sleaze revival and Dimes Square.
