The New Pornographers are a Canadian indie rock band formed in 1997 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The band functions as a musical collective and supergroup, comprising singer-songwriters and musicians from various projects. The current lineup includes Carl Newman (vocals, guitar), Neko Case (vocals), John Collins (bass), Todd Fancey (guitar), and Kathryn Calder (keyboards, backing vocals). They have released ten studio albums. The band has been recognized for their use of multiple vocalists and songwriters, as well as for incorporating elements of power pop into their music. Their sound has been described as "peppy, gleeful, headstrong guitar pop," and their debut album, Mass Romantic, has been praised as "one of the greatest" power pop albums.
