SHAWN MENDES

Shawn Peter Raul Mendes (born August 8, 1998) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician. He gained a following in 2013 through posting song covers on the video-sharing platform Vine. In 2014, he signed a record deal with Island Records after being noticed by artist manager Andrew Gertler and A&R Ziggy Chareton. Mendes released his self-titled debut EP in 2014 and his debut studio album, Handwritten, in 2015. Handwritten debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, making him one of five artists to debut at number one before turning 18. The single "Stitches" reached number one in the UK and entered the top 10 in the US and Canada. His second album, Illuminate, was released in 2016 and also debuted at number one in the US. Its singles "Treat You Better" and "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" achieved top 10 positions in multiple countries. Mendes's third album, Shawn Mendes, was released in 2018, supported by the lead single "In My Blood." The album debuted at number one in the US, making Mendes the third-youngest artist to have three number-one albums.
