It looks like The 1975 have been filming a music video.
The band have been AWOL since deleting their social media earlier this year, with a comeback and a new album expected to follow before the end of 2022. To date, all we know for sure is that they’ll be playing Japan’s Summer Sonic festival in August. However, things may be starting to move on.
Over the past couple of days, the band’s usual photographer Jordan Curtis Hughes has posted Instagram stories from a stoney beach. In one, he tags the band’s label Dirty Hit’s GM, Ed Blow. In the background, it’s clear something is being filmed.

This, Dear Reader, is enough to send fans off doing investigations. And those investigations have proved fruitful.
Turns out, all you need to do is search ‘filming’ and ‘beach’ on Twitter, and everything becomes very clear. No, really. That’s all we’ve done here. It turns out actor Sanjiv Hayre has been tweeting. If you connect the very obvious dots – it’s clear it’s for a very specific band, who have been filming on Shellness Beach in Sheerness, Kent.
And in case they’re deleted, cos we’re smarter than that…

So, The 1975 are filming a music video. Which means there’s a single. Which may or may not be that far away, if such a thing is being created. That pop emergency klaxon is on standby.
Still, that’s not our favourite thing about this news. Turns out, it might be a very interesting video indeed.

Blimey.
