Adam Buxton has announced his debut album ‘Buckle Up’, set for release via Decca Records on 12th September.

The comedian and podcaster has collaborated with Metronomy’s Joe Mount, who serves as lead producer on the project, alongside producer Pete Robertson, known for his work with Beabadoobee, Jane’s Addiction, and The Vaccines.

The album’s lead single ‘Pizza Time’ has also been released, accompanied by a visualiser created by Guy Larsen. The track, mixed by Mount and produced by Robertson, was inspired by Buxton’s teenage son, Nat.

“I don’t actually consider this actual music. One of the album titles I considered was ‘Adjacent To Music’, because every single bit of music that I’ve listened to, in my mind, is better qualified to be considered music than this,” Buxton says of the project.

Mount reflects on the recording process: “I loved making this record with Adam and am very proud of my involvement in it. We chatted about artists like Ween, The Rutles, Eric Idle and Harry Nilsson whilst recording and I would often think to myself ‘what would a car full of teenagers enjoy hearing’. Hopefully we’ve made something a car full of teenagers will enjoy.”

The fifteen-track album features collaborations with various musicians, including Dan Hawkins on bass guitar, Maria Uzor providing production assistance, and Buxton’s son Nat contributing flute and piano on select tracks.

An album launch event will take place at London’s Rough Trade East on 17th September.
