Alice Glass has hinted at a new version of Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’ for the forthcoming Barbie film.
The former Crystal Castles frontwoman shared a brief clip featuring her cover of the 1997 hit, paired with scenes from the highly anticipated movie. The teaser begins with characters Barbie, voiced by Margot Robbie, and Ken, voiced by Ryan Gosling, exchanging greetings, followed by Glass’s rendition of the classic song, set to a backdrop of pulsating electronic beats. The cryptic caption “Coming soon” accompanied the post, along with heart and rabbit emojis.
The reimagined ‘Barbie Girl’ track appears to be a collaboration with Adore. A pre-save link indicates that the cover will be available on July 21, coinciding with the release of the Barbie film.
